The mental health and emotional well-being of women and people with estrogen cycles I view from two directions. It can be regenerative, where once we get to the breaking point we need to fix something through variety of aliviating techniques, wheather it is meditaiton retreat or vigorous physical routines, therapy talk or inner silence, turning to pharma or staying holistic and every combination in between, or sustainable, with no ‘fix it’ mindset, but rather anticipating the natural flow of phases of cycle and attending its needs at the moment. And if I have roughly 170 more menstrual cycles till menopause, I’d rather meet them with grace. I will not always have access to hormonal treatments, and not always I will choose to use them. I will not always have the desire and financial freedom to turn to treatments, therapies, and retreats to regenerate my mental health. But I will always be able to acknowledge the existence of my physical and emotional patterns at different phases of the cycle, and once I learn from them, I will be able to predict and manage those patterns, anticipating my emotional needs and communicating them accordingly without putting strain on my relationships. This is part of sustainable mental health and emotional wellbeing, and I choose the second.
